April 4 - Olive Media has officially announced that they are now shipping their Opus N°4 Music Server. This device actually seems fairly good. The Opus N°4 will be able to store up to 3,000 CDs worth of music without any quality degradation.
This is made possible by a FLAC lossless compression that should keep the music at full CD quality.
This new music server will also have a pretty novel control system, similar to that of an iPhone. It comes with a 4.3-inch touchscreen which can be browsed by album, genre, or artist.
To combat the frequent problems associated with the noise generated by music servers, Olive has included 8 layers of noise-cancelling padding around the drives.
Retaining the ability to play CDs normally as well, the Opus N°4 looks like it will be a very capable music server.
Olive also introduced the Melody N°2 which can enable the Opus N°4 to play music in 10 zones at the same time. The Opus N°4 is available now for $1,500 for the 320GB version.
It will also be available in 500GB, 750GB, and 1TB models.
